Setting Financial Goals

Did You Know?

According to Dataquest, an information technology research firm, 24.2 million people will be banking online by 2004.  That’s up from 7 million people banking online in 1998.

Helpful Hints

Studies show that adults are more likely to meet their financial goals, if they write the goals down on paper.  So you can start out by writing (or typing) your goal, including specific details to define it.  Then write down the timeframe and steps that you predict you’ll take as you try to achieve your goal.  Finally, post that document in a place where you’re likely to see it daily.

Start by asking yourself the following:

  • What goal do you want to achieve?
  • When do you want to reach that goal?
  • What obstacles might arise?
  • How much money will it take?
  • Have you protected yourself from obstacles that may sidetrack you?
